After the visit, you will gather for a lunch in the village of Arjuzanx, to discover its natural protected habitat and 2 buildings made from locally sourced wood. After lunch, you will stop by the Thébault facility, France’s first plywood manufacturer producing 80,000 m3, for a visit of the 15,000 m3-production unit specializing in the production of Solférino maritime pine plywood.

  • FCBA’s pôle Biotechnologies Sylviculture Avancé, which conducts research to improve the productivity of forest stands through plant breeding, relying on biotechnology, optimizing wood itineraries, studying relationships between silviculture and wood quality, etc.
  • The European Forest Institute (EFI), through its regional EFIATLANTIC office, specializes in forest plantations and risk:

Seismic trial at Institut technologique FCBA

Through a partnership with Kaufman & Broad, a seismic trial of a 1/3-scale model of the building systems in Silva tower will be held at FCBA mechanics laboratory. The workshop aims at showing how the laws of similarity allow to go from a 1/3-scale model to the full-size building. The trial will also be an opportunity to showcase the latest advances in tall building design and dimensioning with respect to seismic restrictions.

  • Arrival at the Institut technologique FCBA at 9:00 am.
