Wood Tram Operation

From September 6 to 15, Bordeaux Métropole’s line C tram will be transformed into a wood construction, sustainable city and local economy path. Through exhibits and animations, open to the general public for free, operation partners will showcase actions currently underway and display the interest of wood in midrise and tall wood buildings.

Kengo Kuma at WOODRISE on September 14

The world-famous Japanese architect, Mr. Kengo Kuma, will speak at the Thursday, September 14 plenary session. The author of many architectural masterpieces and winner of many awards – including the Murano award for the Bato-machi Hiroshige Museum – he will do us the honour of concluding at 11:40 AM the Plenary Session on the economic development potential of midrise and tall wood building stakeholders.

Round Table on Public Policy

Public policy can be determining for wood development in tall buildings. That is why a plenary session will be fully dedicated to this topic on September 13, at 9:30 AM. It will end with a round table featuring Luc Charmasson, Comité Stratégique de Filière Forêt Bois (France), Rémi Chabrillat, ADEME (France), Petri Heino, Department of Environment (Finland), Jennifer Cover, Woodworks (United States) and Susanne Rudenstam, Swedish Wood (Sweden).

Global Alliance, a WOODRISE Partner!

Under the auspices of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, a document describing international best practice for the development of wood usage in the construction of midrise and tall buildings will be developed and presented at WOODRISE. The document is based on surveys conducted in six countries in the Alliance: Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Japan and Switzerland. This initiative is supported by the Club ADEME international.

National Wood Construction Awards at WOODRISE!

On September 13 at 1:00 pm, come see the winners of the National Wood Construction awards in the exhibition hall. These awards, sponsored by the regional interprofession network, aims at following-up and reporting on the dynamism of wood construction in France, highlighting innovative, ecofriendly and economically viable projects for the future.

Friday, September 15 will be dedicated to technical visits. Exhibition of projects and scale models by promoters and social landlords, discovery of active industrial units, research centres and even a seismic trial; the opportunities to improve your knowledge and satisfy your curiosity are many.

Discover the Mjøstårnet Norwegian Project

Standing 80 m-tall and with its 18 storeys, this wood building will be among the world’s tallest! Come listen to Johan Åhlén from Moelven who will present you this project at his conference on September 13, at 2:40 pm. He will be discussing the Mjøstårnet & Frostaliden projects: hybrid solutions for tall wood buildings.
